Other random class displays from this year

So as I'm playing catch up, I thought I'd just put all of my recent displays in one place! 

I'm particularly proud of my Castles/ Fairy Tales display. The children made the beanstalks using paper mache' and it's 3 and a half metres tall! Luckily this is my current display and the one that Ofsted ended up seeing.

Great Fire of London

We were learning about the Great Fire of London earlier in the year (which the children really loved). They created this artwork for our display. 

First they did a colour wash background using watercolours. When this was dry, they added their silouhette.

Welcome to our class

I haven't posted in a long time and have a bit of catching up to do! Here's a picture I created with my class at the beginning of the year.

I made the image using Block Poster and then gave each child an A4 sheet. They coloured it in and we put it all together. I'm quite pleased with the end result and the children loved doing it. 

Nature rubbings

It's been gorgeous weather recently and we've been making the most of it. During Outdoor Learning we went exploring for different textures in the environment. The children recorded what they'd found by making nature rubbings. We then put all of the pictures together to make a collage.

The collage is now on display outside my classroom and looks amazing!

As I left school today, our tipi was being put up again for the summer so expect some tipi-based pictures soon!

Collages with natural materials

We've been learning about Andy Goldsworthy this week. My class loved his sculptures and got really excited about the idea of making their own. We started with baby steps by making a collage with natural materials that we found in the school grounds. The outcomes were really lovely and the children had a great time.

Places in the world

Next half term we're going to be learning about places in the world that we've visited. I'm really looking forward to this topic as there's so much that can be done with it and the children love talking about their holidays.

I went into school today to get the display started to get my class interested. It's still in the early stages but here's what I have so far:

The map is just printed on sheets of A4 plain paper so that it can be scrawled on easily as I want it to be really interactive. You can create the same effect with any picture using blockposters.com.

I'm hoping the children will really get involved and bring in photos to share etc. I'm also hoping to talk to some people in different countries and ask them questions.

More of my Science/Outdoor Learning display

In my last post I showed you my Science display that we had just started. I have put our Science work and Outdoor Learning work together so this is everything we've been doing in one space.

 

My class have all planted their own bean plants which you can see in this picture. Each child also has their own bean diary where they can record what happens to their plant. I'm using the templates made by Twinkl which can be found here. 

We do Outdoor Learning every week in my class and it's a great opportunity for the children to explore the outdoors. It also links perfectly with our Science topic. In our lessons so far we've done a scavenger hunt of different natural materials, created snow master pieces with food colouring in water and made some amazing story sticks which you can see below. Each child was given a stick and was then asked to attach to it things that they found on their journey around the school. This task encouraged children to find different natural materials but also involved a lot of fine motor skill work and problem solving.

The finished products look great and the children are really proud of what they made.
